INCRIMINAL together with FACE UP, LAST HOPE, TURN-DOWN, FORWARD, HUMANMASK, STRATEGY X and CATCH AS CATCH CAN was a First Wave Sofia Hardcore band between 1994 and 1999. INCRIMINAL was a trio - Kalin - drums, Rado - guitar and Dobro - bass/voice. Musically INCRIMINAL was a more diverse HC band than most Sofia and Varna HC bands at the time, because its members came from metal and jazz/funk background and had also some influences from alternative bands dominating the 90s. INCRIMINAL earliest influences were BIOHAZARD, MADBALL, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES and HELMET, and later on SICK OF IT ALL, AGNOSTIC FRONT, S.O.D., M.O.D. and NYHC bands in general. All music and lyrics were written by Dobro and perfectly executed by the skilled musicians Rado and Kalin. Rado was the best riff-master in Slatina thaught by the riffs of METALLICA, SLAYER, MEGADETH and ANTHRAX with influences from EXODUS, KREATOR, SUICIDAL TENDENCIES, PANTERA and different guitar Gods in general, while Kalin came from a family of professional musicians with funk and jazz background, but he also loved skilled heavy metal/HC bands. Kalin's drum teacher was the one and the only Tsuro (R.I.P.) a Bulgarian drummer-legend and metal pioneer. Dobro's bass style was influenced by virtuoso bass players playing for metal or alternative bands like Frank Bello of ANTHRAX, Doug Whimbish of LIVING COLOR, Robert Trujilio of ST and INFECTIUS GROOVES, and Les Claypool of PRIMUS. Rado and Dobro were neighbors from Slatina, bl.69, while Kalin lived downtown on Oborishte Street where the band practiced. A funny fact is that Kalin's house hosted on the 1st floor the practice room of RAG DOLLS (an infamous Bulgarian alternative band from the 90s), because their drummer Sasho (today DJ Vagabond) lived there! However RAG DOLLS were older and very different in style, so both bands didn't interact at all. Early 1996 when Kalin and Rado were drafted into the army, Dobro joined LAST HOPE as a bass player and back-up vocal. In early 1998 Kalin and Rado returned from the army and INCRIMINAL was alive again. Dobro played in both bands until late 1998 keeping it Old School with LH and NYHC/fusion HC with INCRIMINAL. After INCRIMINAL disbanded Dobro brought some of the INCRIMINAL riffs and techniques into LAST HOPE thus adding one more layer to the unique LAST HOPE sound that you know today ...
